Greenview conducted pioneering research on hotel-based beekeeping, exploring how urban hospitality properties can support biodiversity and local ecosystems, while enhancing the guest experience through on-site hives.
The study identified hotels globally that practice beekeeping, surveyed participating properties, and analyzed their motivations, operational approaches, and profit outcomes. Among all respondents, no known “stinging” incidents were recorded for hotel guests, demonstrating that urban hotel beekeeping can be safely and successfully integrated into hospitality operations.
The research also revealed how hotels creatively use harvested honey as a tool for engagement – from incorporating it into menus and spa products to sharing it as gifts for guests or partnering with local schools and charities.
Through this study, Greenview highlighted hotel beekeeping as an emerging best practice that combines environmental sustainability, community engagement, and guest connection.
