On behalf of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Greenview conducted a sector-wide assessment for the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to understand how hotels of different sizes were affected financially by COVID-19 and to evaluate their capacity and willingness in investing in greener operations as part of their recovery. The study combined a diagnostic survey of hotel owners and operators with consultations across a broad range of industry stakeholders, supported by discussions with the IFC and UNWTO.
The results and recommendations were used to structure a global credit facility to support debt restructuring for local financial institutions. This support aimed to assist hotels with specific provisions for greening their properties to reduce costs during the pandemic recovery period. It focused on the countries of Indonesia, India, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, South Africa, and Jamaica.
