Co-founded by the Phuket Hotels Association (Thailand), C9 Hotelworks and Greenview in 2018, PHIST is a landmark sustainability forum for island- and resort-based hospitality in Southeast Asia. The annual event brings together hoteliers, developers and sustainability leaders to exchange knowledge, showcase solutions and catalyze industry transformation in tourism and hospitality.
With the mission of starting a sustainability movement across Thailand and the region, PHIST has become Asia’s largest and most innovative sustainable tourism event. It has a unique approach of making sustainability fun and inviting, with technical workshops, an exhibit floor with vetted green solution providers, and thought leaders from the entire travel and event industry.
PHIST 2025 marked its 8th edition with record-breaking participation, welcoming over 1,300 delegates from across the region. The event featured a keynote address by the Phuket Governor and included speakers from major hotel companies and global organizations, alongside more than 25 sessions tackling critical industry topics. The event united hoteliers, policymakers, and innovators and featured a sustainable fashion show, farm-to-table showcase, and awards celebrating outstanding sustainability practices in hospitality.
Over the years, PHIST has featured musical performances, Muay Thai demonstrations, and youth-led initiatives, reflecting its inclusive and creative approach to engagement. The forum also serves as a platform for Phuket’s youth – bringing together students from local schools and universities to share their ideas and speak up on sustainability. PHIST has had routine sponsorship from the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) since its inception. It also received the HICAP Sustainable Hotel Award for Positive Community Impact, recognizing its success in generating sponsorship, engagement, and impact for youth education and plastic reduction.
